But all this is nothing compared to a situation when life and choice are at stake: kill or be killed. And if Danganronp’s characters can kill someone without getting caught, they get their freedom. “Danganronpa” – a game or a cartoon?

The full name sounds like Danganronpa: Kiboo no gakuen to dicubo no kokosei, which means Alexander Danganronpa: Academy of Hope and School of Despair. This is a game by Spike Chunsoft, presented in the form of a visual novel. The release took place on November 25, 2010. It is worth noting that the game was released only in Japan and was designed to be played on the PlayStation handheld console. Players had the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the virtual world, becoming a character of “Danganronpa ”.

There are three parts to the game. The second version called Dang Danganronpa 2: Goodbye, Despair, took place in July 2013. The third part, Danganronpa Reload, was released in October 2013. At the end of 2017, Japanese gamers expect to see the end of this fascinating story. Although it is a later version, it has nothing to do with previous versions. At least, so say the developers.

After the release of the first game based on the game, a manga was created, and then – an anime. The animation studio presented Lerche, and on July 4, 2013 debuted the first season. In 2016, 2 more anime and special seasons were released. All fully correspond to the game world, even the characters of “Danganronpa” practically do not change.

The plot of the first season

The main idea of ​​the anime is a simple phrase: “Kill or be killed”. In the first part, the anime tells about the elite school “Picture of Hope”, where only the most gifted children are accepted. But you can also get there by winning the lottery, which makes it possible for non-stellar students to study there. It was just that, once in “The Peak of Hope”, the magnetic field couldn’t escape. There’s only one way out – kill your classmates and not get caught.

Survivors (male characters)

In the anime, viewers meet 15 students who are in an elite school. But by the end of the first season, no more than half survived. With them the viewer is found in the following seasons. Now more about the characters of the anime “Danganronpa”:

Makoto Naegi (誠) – one of the main characters of the anime. An ordinary young man who stands out among his peers wins the opportunity to study at an elite school in the lottery, where he is nicknamed absolute luck. It has a good story about a detective, which allows him to solve crimes that happen in the academy.

Byakuya Togami (十 神) – a person from a wealthy family, has managed to enter several leadership positions, and is very successful. Has the title of “absolute heir”. Slightly suspended in relation to classmates, considering them as competitors.

Yasuhiro Hagakure (葉 隠) is an “absolute” magician with a prediction accuracy of 30%. Not coerced in behavior, but very afraid of being suspected.

Survivors (female characters)

In the first part of the anime, the female characters of Danganronpa played no less role. Among them survived:

Toko Fukava (川) – a girl with a personality disorder. It’s nicknamed “the absolute nerd.” Her novels are very popular, and she has received several awards. But Toko has a different personality – an unconditional serial killer who appears as soon as a girl sees blood.

Aoi Asahina (朝日) is an absolute swimmer. A young athlete in 5 sports clubs and was selected to participate in the Olympics. A bad memory for names, naive, takes everything close to the heart and gives in easily to panic.

Kyoko Kirigiri ( 切 響 ) – the girl who is discreet, next to her erased memories She can argue her actions, is endowed with excellent deductive skills, her talent is an unconditional detective.

Characters from other seasons

There is no second season in this anime. In 2013, an adaptation of the first game story came out, and in 2016 the viewer can see the series, invented by the creator of the game, but different in plot than in gameplay. The characters in the game of Danganronpa 2 are different from the first story. In the anime, however, they do not appear.

For the conditional “Danganronpa” season 2, the characters (main characters) are the survivors of “The Peak of Hope”. After humanity suffered the tragic accident of Absolute Despair, the government created a new formation, the Foundation of the Future.
